Dual-wielding is the ability to handle two single-handed weapons at the same time. It enables to inflict more damage at the cost of more rapidly spent ammunition and longer reloading times.

Max Payne allows the protagonist to dual-wield two Berretas and two Ingrams.
Max Payne 2

The second game, alongside the Berretas and Ingrams, introduces the ability to dual wield two Desert Eagles. Although these more potent handguns were also featured in the first game, Max Payne could only hold one of them.
Max Payne 3

Max Payne 3 improves the ability of dual-wielding: now, not only two identical but any two single-handed weapons will be possible to dual wield.
The player can also dual-wields any two single handed weapons in multiplayer.
