Rockstar Vancouver was the video game development studio responsible for the creation of Max Payne 3. It was owned by Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive.

History[]

Previously known as the Barking Dog Studios, the developer was acquired by Rockstar Games in 2002 and was renamed after the Canadian city it is situated in. In 2006, the studio released a sandbox action-adventure videogame Bully. After this project, since the rights to the Max Payne franchise were bought by Take-Two from Remedy Entertainment, Rockstar Vancouver was tasked with developing the third title of the series.

After the release of the game, on 9 July 2012, Rockstar Games announced that the studio would be closed in favor of merging the team with Rockstar Toronto at an expanded facility in Oakville, Ontario.
