Pawnbroker is a pawn store in New York City located near Jack Lupino's office and his hotel, comprising part of a Mafia controlled apartment complex.

CharacteristicsEdit

Inside Pawnbroker, many second hand electronics are sold, such as TVs, watches and cell phones. Also, there is an Ingram in a display cabinet and can be obtained by breaking the glass. There's a caged-off area where the clerk would stand, with ammunition and weapons on its shelves. It is unknown whether the Mafia own the store or "protect" it.

StoryEdit

In 2001, Max Payne comes upon Pawnbroker during his campaign of tracking down Jack Lupino when makes his way through the streets from Lupino's hotel to his crime family's office building in an extremely cold and snowy winter night. Two mobsters are occupying the establishment and attack Payne on first site.

That same night, Payne accesses the caged-off room of the pawnshop from the back side via another building. He finds a key here which he later uses to unlock an important exit. Once he picks up the key, though, an NYPD SWAT team enters through the Pawnbroker's front, aiming their guns at Payne's position; Police chief Jim Bravura speaks on the megaphone demanding the fugitive's immediate surrender, but Max Payne escapes.
