Punchinello crime family thugs
However, when Payne arrives, he finds an empty platform and a locked entrance gate. He checks the personnel room and finds a dead Transit Police officer. Alerted, he pulls out his gun.
In search of Alex, Max Payne kills many mobsters and makes his way to a control room, where he switches on a train which he uses to break through a wooden barrier to an old, abandoned part of the subway. There, he encounters and eliminates more mobsters.
Once Payne enters the bank via a tunnel, blasted through by the mob, he finds a detonator which proves useful blowing up through a welded shut door to breach the other closed wing of the subway. There, Max finally finds Balder, who is murdered shortly after starting to speak by the very B.B. Hensley who organized the meeting. Hensley flees and is not seen by Payne. Max then kills the remaining mobsters and leaves the station, infuriated and with a burning determination to exact revenge to those responsible for his partners death, starting with the Punchinello crime family. His next step - Lupino's Hotel where he expects to find the Mafia capo he suspects is responsible.
Max Payne is subsequently framed for the murder of Alex Balder and the police start a feverish pursuit of him which only ends after 3 days on the roof of the Aesir Plaza skyscraper when Payne surrenders. Alfred Woden exonerates him of any charges.
Payne ignores them as he walks past and heads into the bathroom. The junkies, who are after his watch, follow him in an attempt to mug him.
One of the junkies pulls out a gun, but Payne disarms and knocks him out; the other two panic. One of the muggers runs out into the tunnel and is killed by a train, while the other tries to hide in a cubicle, but the cop shoots the lock off and interrogates him.
