The Secret Finale is a special bonus level of Max Payne, available after the the game has been passed on the hardest Dead on Arrival difficulty. In it, Max Payne battles against a large group of Killer Suits in Bullet Time, and the finale serves as the ultimate challenge of the game.
The level begins just after the final chapter, Pain and Suffering, ends on the third and highest difficulty setting; no developer credits ever roll when playing on Dead on Arrival.
The Secret Finale is composed of an open, Aesir HQ-interior-design-stylized area, lit with a bluish glow coming from computer mainframes, and surrounded by computer consoles. One computer room with glass walls is located in the centre.
Some starting weapons are provided for Max Payne to collect but have little ammunition; the Beretta, on the other hand, has unlimited ammo. An M79 is placed in the middle of the whole zone, in the central computer station.
Battle and rewardsEdit
Once stepped into the main area, the game switches to permanent Bullet Time and the player is attacked by herds of Killer Suits. If all of them are killed, the game speed returns to normal, and a congratulatory message is displayed. Moreover, the player is able to access a new area behind the Killer Suits' spawning zone, in which a gallery is located, composed of many behind-the-scenes photos from the production team of the Max Payne game, and a spinning, holographic Remedy Entertainment logo.
