Plot
Edit
Three years prior to the mission Roscoe Street Station. Max was still part of the NYPD, Alex Balder (working undercover for the D.E.A.) being one of Max's closest friends still alive. Max Arrives home puzzled by the silence and no response from his wife, Michelle Payne. Max cautiously traverses through his home and finds a strange "V" and syringe graffiti written on a wall. As Max continues he hears his phone ring and picks up the phone. Max enters his living room afterwards and begins to walk upstairs; he starts to hear Michelle yelling and his baby crying. Max shouts for Michelle but she is in too much danger to respond. Max attempts to run through the bathroom door, but finds the door obstructed, and Michelle is then killed moments later. He then proceeds towards the baby's room and a Valkyr test subject bursts through the door, and is being told by Max to drop their weapons. He refuses to do so, and he proceeds to try and kill him. He is taken down by Max, and another test subject comes out and is killed also. Max rushes to his baby's room, only to find the baby had been shot dead. After being filled with contrition for a brief moment, Max continues into the house as he hears another test subject in his bedroom shout "The flesh of fallen angels!". He bursts the door open and blasts him away. He then looks at his wife, whom is dead, and screams, "NO!". After the incident, Max contacts Alex Balder to notify him of his transfer to DEA. It took three years to find a crack in the Valkyr case, but then Max finally got a tip that Jack Lupino of the Punchinello Crime Family was trafficking Valkyr. Max starts his vendetta on whoever sent Valkyr test subjects to his house.
